Another Young Hero Joins Sankranthi 2027 race

This year’s Sankranthi turned out to be one of the most crowded festive seasons in recent times, with multiple releases hitting theatres simultaneously. Films like The Raja Saab, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Nari Nari Naduma Murari, Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Bhartha Mahasayulaku Vignapti dominated the season. Tamil films Jananayagan and ParaSakthi were also originally scheduled for release but failed to make it to theatres due to various issues. Had they released as planned, Sankranthi would have witnessed as many as seven releases.

Despite the heavy competition, most films enjoyed a decent theatrical run, encouraging filmmakers to eye the Sankranthi window for next year as well. Sharwanand was among the first to make his intentions clear, announcing that his next film with Srinu Vaitla will release during Sankranthi 2027. Anil Ravipudi, who has almost become synonymous with the Sankranthi season, is also expected to lock the same festive slot for his next project. In addition, reports suggest that the Chiranjeevi–Bobby combination is planning a Sankranthi release, while Teja Sajja is also keen on bringing his next film to theatres during the festive period.

Now, if industry buzz is to be believed, Naga Chaitanya may soon join this competitive race. The actor is currently busy shooting for Vrusha Karma, a mystical adventure film directed by Karthik Dandu of Virupaksha fame, with Meenakshi Chaudhary playing the female lead. The makers are targeting a summer release, and Naga Chaitanya is expected to wrap up shooting by March or April, after which he will shift focus to his next project.

Strong reports indicate that Harish Shankar is likely to collaborate with Naga Chaitanya for a mass entertainer after completing Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Sithara Entertainments likely to bankroll this project. The Pawan Kalyan-starrer is currently in post-production, with dubbing having commenced a few days ago. The makers are planning a March release, coinciding with the date originally allotted to Peddi. With Peddi being postponed, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is now being considered for that slot, which would free up Harish Shankar soon after.

Harish Shankar is banking heavily on Ustaad Bhagat Singh for a strong comeback. The film stars Sreeleela and Raashi Khanna as the female leads, with Pawan Kalyan playing a police officer. Expectations are high for a full-fledged commercial entertainer in the mould of Gabbar Singh. The first single, Dekhlenge Saala, released in December and received a positive response, particularly for Pawan Kalyan’s energetic dance moves set to Devi Sri Prasad’s music. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film has already generated solid buzz.

With more stars and filmmakers lining up for the festive season, Sankranthi 2027 is shaping up to be another high-stakes box-office battle.
