AI technology for Jaragandi song

The Jaragandi song is the first track released from the Game Changer film, which is set to release this Sankranthi. In a recent interview, Thaman revealed that they had to use AI technology for the song.

The Jaragandi song faced many hurdles before its release. It was leaked online months earlier. Typically, filmmakers release an intro song or title song first. Perhaps the makers of Game Changer wanted to release the intro song Raa Macha Raa first, but the leak of Jaragandi might have forced them to release it ahead of schedule.

Dil Raju, the producer of the film, recently revealed that they spent a whopping ₹75 crore solely on making the songs, with Jaragandi being the costliest among them. The song is sung by Daler Mehndi and Sunidhi Chauhan, with lyrics penned by Anantha Sriram. Thaman composed the music for this track.

In a recent interview, Thaman explained the use of AI technology for the song. A few portions sung by the singer lacked the punch the director wanted. After recording 100 takes, the singer left for Delhi. To address this, Thaman had another singer, Hanuman, record those portions. Then, using a voice sample from the Bantipoola Janaki song from Baadshah of Jr. NTR, they created Daler Mehndi’s voice with the desired pitch and punch for the Jaragandi song.

Tamil Music director Anirudh Ravi Chander did the same kind of thing for Manasilaayo song in Vettaiyaan film of Rajinikanth. He utilized AI technology to create the vocals of Malaysia Vasudevan in the song. Amazed by it Thaman called him and appreciated him for the great job, Thaman revealed the same.

Thaman also emphasized that, like every tool, AI has its pros and cons, and it is essential to adhere to ethics while using it. He further mentioned that Daler Mehndi was paid for the song.
