Prominent figures from the Telugu film industry met with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today. The meeting garnered significant attention following the CM’s strong statements in the Assembly a few days ago. Producer and Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) Chairman Dil Raju took the initiative to organize this crucial interaction between the government and industry stakeholders.

During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy reiterated his stance on several issues and proposed new measures for collaboration between the government and the film industry:

  1. Benefit Shows: The CM firmly stated that benefit shows would no longer be permitted in Telangana.
  2. Anti-Drug Campaigns: Mandatory participation from the industry in campaigns against drug use.
  3. Ticket CESS: Imposition of a CESS on cinema tickets to fund the construction of integrated schools.
  4. Caste Census Campaigns: Collaboration in promoting caste census campaigns.
  5. Celebrity Responsibility: Celebrities must play an active role in controlling fan behavior.
  6. Social Initiatives: The industry is encouraged to promote women’s safety, temple tourism, eco-tourism, and the state’s industrial policy.

Industry Leaders’ Statements

Producer Allu Aravind expressed gratitude to the government, stating:
“It’s a good day for the producers. Thanks to the government for giving us time to meet. We will ensure no unfortunate incidents like the Sandhya theater incident occur again. We will cooperate in making Hyderabad a global shooting destination.”

Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni emphasized the need for infrastructure development, saying:
“It’s our desire for Hyderabad to become the World Cinema Capital. The cinema industry can reach a global level if the government provides capital incentives. Hyderabad should have a universal-level studio setup.”

Veteran director Raghavendra Rao commended the government’s efforts and proposed new initiatives:
“This government is taking good care of the industry. I welcome the appointment of producer Dil Raju as the TFDC Chairman. Telangana has wonderful tourism spots. I request CM Revanth Reddy to organize an International Film Festival in Hyderabad, just as CM Chandrababu organized the Children’s Film Festival.”

CM Revanth Reddy stood firm on his statements he passed in the assembly that there will be no more benefit shows and ticket price hikes in the state. He expressed anguish over the Sandhya theater incident, He said that we took that incident very seriously because a woman lost her life in the incident.

The meeting happened very well and CM Revanth Reddy assured the industry people of their government support in prosperity of the industry in Telangana, but he stood strongly on the maintenance of law & order.
