Why Akhanda 2 Should Hit Theatres Sooner Rather Than Later

Akhanda 2, which was supposed to release yesterday, has been postponed indefinitely, disappointing fans who were eagerly waiting for it. As the sequel to the blockbuster Akhanda, the expectations were very high. However, due to financial issues, the team had no option but to delay the release. Although there were rumours that the film might arrive a day later, the production house officially confirmed that it would not happen.

Now the big question is: when will the film finally release? According to reports, the financial issues are almost resolved, and the team is planning to bring the film to theatres as early as possible, with a grand release. December 12 appears to be the most practical date. The buzz will remain strong, Netflix is unlikely to object to a one-week delay, and the team won’t need to spend much on promotions during such a short gap. As we know, OTT platforms penalize delays by reducing their payout, so a quick release helps avoid that problem.

Releasing the film on December 19 or 25 is not ideal. Avatar releases on the 19th, which will limit screen availability in North America. Netflix may also reduce the agreed amount if the release is pushed further. Considering the financial pressure the producers are already facing, delaying the film again would only make things worse. For all these reasons, an early release, preferably on December 12, seems to be the best choice for the team.

Directed by Boyapati Srinu, this is the 4th collobaration of Balakrishna and Boyapati after Simha, Legend and Akhanda 1. Samyukta Menon is playing the female lead, while Harshali Malhotra, known for her role in Bajrangi Baijaan is playing the role of daughter of Balakrishna in this film. Thaman is composing music for this film.
