Naga Vamsi Acquires Telugu Theatrical Rights for NTR film, again

Naga Vamsi has emerged as one of the industry’s successful young producers. Despite a few setbacks early in his career, he has delivered several small-scale hits and simultaneously ventured into big-budget films with stars like Pawan Kalyan under his banner, Sitara Entertainments. The production house has built successful franchises like Mad Square and Tillu Square, both of which are set to receive sequels.

In addition to film production, Naga Vamsi has also expanded into film distribution. He recently distributed Devara, starring Jr NTR and directed by Koratala Siva, acquiring its theatrical rights for Andhra Pradesh. The film turned out to be a box office winner in the region.

Now, Naga Vamsi has reportedly acquired the Telugu theatrical rights for War 2, the sequel to War starring Hrithik Roshan. In War 2, Jr NTR joins Hrithik Roshan in a key role, marking Jr NTR’s first direct Bollywood project. The film is part of the YRF Spy Universe, with Kiara Advani playing the female lead. Although the teaser, released on Jr NTR’s birthday, garnered a decent response, it failed to create significant buzz.

Initially, Naga Vamsi had denied reports of distributing War 2 in Telugu states. However, it has now been confirmed that he has acquired the rights for approximately ₹80 crore. Notably, War 2 is set to clash at the box office with Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The excitement surrounding Coolie is immense. Asian Movies has secured its theatrical rights for the Telugu market.

Interestingly, just two days after the announcement of Asian Suneel’s acquisition of Coolie, news broke of Naga Vamsi finalizing the deal for War 2. While Yash Raj Films had earlier stated they would handle the Telugu release themselves, it seems they later decided it would be more effective to partner with a strong local distributor. Naga Vamsi, having successfully distributed Devara, proved to be the ideal choice.
