Mowgli Struggles at the Box Office Despite Strong Performances
Roshan Kanakala, son of Rajeev Kanakala and Suma Kanakala, made his acting debut with Bubble Gum two years ago. Although the film failed to make an impression on audiences, Roshan tried again with Mowgli, directed by Sandeep Raaj. The director returned to filmmaking after a five-year gap following Color Photo, which won him a National Award. This raised expectations that Mowgli would be a strong film for Roshan, but those expectations were not met.
Bandi Saroj Kumar, who has established himself through feature films, played the protagonist in Mowgli. While he earned appreciation for his performance, he alone could not save the film. The movie recorded very low occupancies on Monday, reflecting the lack of audience interest.
Roshan Kanakala now needs to choose his next project carefully if he wants to sustain himself in the industry. While he has shown genuine effort in both making and promoting his films, effort alone is not enough if the story fails to engage. In Mowgli, the narrative is predictable, allowing audiences to anticipate what happens next, which made the film a dull watch for many. Hopefully, Roshan takes his time and returns with a stronger script for his next film.
