First Look: Ramayana Teaser Highlights War of Dharma vs Rage, Fans React

Ramayana poster

The teaser for Nitesh Malhotra’s Ramayana was launched today in a grand manner across the country. The makers offered audiences a tantalizing glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Yash as Ravan, building anticipation for the epic retelling. Although Sai Pallavi is playing the role of Sita, the teaser did not reveal any visuals of her character.

From the teaser, it’s clear that Nitesh Malhotra aims to present Ramayana as a monumental war between Ram and Ravan, focusing more on their epic clash than the journey of Ram and Sita. This emphasis on the conflict could be a key reason why Yash chose to portray Ravan, given the character’s significant weight in this interpretation.

The teaser has received a mixed response from audiences — an expected outcome considering the film’s ambitious scale and the challenge of meeting high expectations. While the VFX showcased so far appears promising, many viewers expressed a desire for an even more refined visual experience in the final film.

The teaser highlights the central theme: the epic war between Ram, the embodiment of Dharma and sacrifice, and Ravan, representing power and rage. The film’s star-studded cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Laxman. Despite having music legends A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer composing the score, the teaser’s music has drawn a mixed reception.

An Academy Award-winning studio is handling the VFX for the film. Ramayana will be released in two parts, with Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 following in Diwali 2027.
