Actor Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas is back with a mysterious occult thriller titled Kishkindhapuri, starring Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead. Directed by Kaushik Pegallapati of Chaavu Kaburu Challaga fame, the film is produced by Sahu Garapati under the Shine Screens banner. The movie is set for a theatrical release on September 12, 2025.

The promotional content released so far has raised strong expectations, and director Kaushik Pegallapati shared key insights about the film at a recent press meet.

How the Project Began

“After Chaavu Kaburu Challaga, I was supposed to do another film with Geetha Arts, but it got delayed. At one point, I narrated this story to producer Sahu Garapati, who loved it. Later, Bellamkonda Srinivas heard it and was equally excited. That’s how Kishkindhapuri began,” Kaushik explained.

Why a Horror Mystery?

“I’ve always loved horror films. The genre has a separate fan base. Kishkindhapuri is a blend of horror and mystery that offers edge-of-the-seat thrills. My aim was to give audiences a unique experience. Just like my first film had a distinct theme, this one too delivers something new in the horror space,” he said.

Title Justification

The title Kishkindhapuri draws inspiration from the Ramayana:
“Ramayana served as a metaphorical inspiration. Those who decode the story will find several references connected to it,” the director revealed.

Characters and Setting

  • Sai Srinivas: “Known as an action hulk hero, he supported me from day one. He wanted us to present the story exactly as narrated, and it has translated beautifully onscreen,” Kaushik said.
  • Anupama Parameswaran: Plays a character unlike anything she has done before. “Her role, along with Sai’s, is inspired by real-life incidents. Both will be seen in refreshing avatars,” the director added.
  • The film is set in a unique, unknown town. A massive radio station set was built to recreate the 1989 vintage vibe, where most of the story unfolds.

Music & Technical Aspects

  • Music: “Chetan has delivered three brilliant songs and elevated the film with his background score,” said Kaushik.
  • Visuals: With heavy action, fast-paced storytelling, and top-notch graphics, the film promises a technically superior experience.
  • Censor Report: Certified “A” due to its intense scares, but the director assures it is a clean horror thriller with no smoking or drinking scenes, making it a family-friendly experience.

Confidence in the Film

The director confidently stated:

“We are sure Kishkindhapuri will meet expectations. After watching the final output, I feel extremely happy. The film is technically strong, the graphics are fantastic, and the audience will definitely enjoy this ride.”

Release Date

Kishkindhapuri is set to release worldwide on September 12, 2025, offering audiences a spine-chilling horror mystery with a unique storyline.
