Is Prabhas Taking a Risk Again? Fans Concerned Over His Possible Film With Prem Rakshith
Pan-India star Prabhas, who is currently busy shooting for director Maruthi’s horror-comedy The Raja Saab, has been at the center of fan discussions once again. While this combination initially received backlash from fans, the promotional material released so far has eased some concerns. The glimpses promise a fun, stylish Prabhas reminiscent of his comic excellence in films like Bujjigadu and Billa, giving fans hope that the star is returning to his entertaining roots.
However, a new development has reignited anxiety among the fandom. According to recent reports, Prabhas may collaborate with Oscar-winning choreographer Prem Rakshith—famous for “Naatu Naatu”—for a full-fledged feature film. If this materializes, it would mark Rakshith’s directorial debut.
How the Rumor Started
Prem Rakshith is currently choreographing a dance sequence for Prabhas in The Raja Saab. During these interactions, he reportedly expressed his desire to direct a film and narrated a storyline to the actor. Reports suggest that Prabhas has given him a green signal to develop the script further, hinting at a possible future collaboration.
This, however, has not gone down well with fans.
Why Fans Are Worried
Prabhas is one of India’s biggest and most bankable stars, and fans believe that his lineup should reflect the stature he has built post-Baahubali. The primary concern is risking a high-budget film with a debutante director, especially considering similar choices in the past that didn’t yield favorable results.
- After Baahubali, Prabhas chose to work with Sujeeth, a young director, for Saaho. Though Sujeeth wasn’t a debutant, fans felt the film was too big a gamble at that point in Prabhas’ career. Saaho managed strong openings but did not emerge as the blockbuster fans hoped for.
- His next film, Radhe Shyam, also underperformed, further intensifying worries about project selection.
While Prabhas bounced back strongly with Salaar Part 1, fans want him to maintain that momentum by working only with experienced, established directors capable of handling large-scale cinema.
A Strong Lineup Ahead
Prabhas currently has some of the biggest films in Indian cinema in various stages of development:
- Spirit with Sandeep Reddy Vanga
- Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 with Nag Ashwin
- Salaar Part 2 with Prashanth Neel
- A possible film with HanuMan director Prasanth Varma, though not officially confirmed.
These projects assure fans that the star’s future slate is massive, ambitious, and in safe hands.
So, Is It a Risk?
From a career strategy perspective, yes, collaborating with a debut director, even one as talented as Prem Rakshith, carries inherent risk. Fans fear a repeat of the Saaho–Radhe Shyam phase if Prabhas once again chooses to invest time and energy in untested filmmakers.
However, nothing has been officially confirmed. At the moment, Prem Rakshith is still only developing a script, and the project is far from a formal announcement.
Until then, fans will keep a close eye on developments, hoping that Prabhas continues choosing projects that match his stature and build on the momentum he regained with Salaar.
